Psalm 109:6Word Study on "Satan" - Strong says the Hebrew word "Satan" ( שָׂטָן) (H 7854) means, "an opponent, an adversary, Satan," and it comes from the verb ( שָׂטַן) (H 7853), which means, "to attack," or figuratively, "to accuse."

In the Old Testament, this word is used when Satan stood up against Israel ( 1 Chronicles 21:1), throughout the first two chapters of the book of Job ( Job 1:6), Psalm 109:6, and in the vision of Zechariah ( Zechariah 3:1-2).
