Calvary is the site of the crucifixion of Jesus. The word derives from the translation of word calvaria in the Latin Vulgate. Calvary was known in the New Testament as Golgotha which means "Place of the Skull" (Matthew 27:33). It was located outside the city of Jerusalem.
