(uh hi' juh) See 1 Samuel 14:3-4 ). He brought the ark of God to Saul (1 Samuel 4:18 ). 2 . A scribe of Solomon (1 Kings 4:3 ). 3 . A prophet from Shiloh who tore his clothes in twelve pieces and gave ten to Jeroboam to signal God's decision to divide the kingdom after Solomon's death (1 Kings 11:29-39 ). Later when Jeroboam's son fell sick, the blind prophet recognized Jeroboam's wife through God's word. He announced the end of Jeroboam's reign and of his dynasty (1 Kings 14:1-18 ; 1 Kings 15:29 ). 2 Chronicles 9:29 refers to a prophecy of Ahijah in written form. 4. Father of King Baasha of Israel from tribe of Issachar ( 1 Kings 15:27 ). 5 . Son of Jerahmeel (1 Chronicles 2:25 ). 6 . Son of Ehud in tribe of Benjamin, an official in Geba (1 Chronicles 8:7 ). 7 . One of David's 30 military heroes whose home was Pelon (1 Chronicles 11:36 ). The corresponding list in 2 Samuel 23:34 has Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite. 8. Signer of Nehemiah's covenant to obey God's law ( Nehemiah 10:26 ). 9 . The Hebrew text of 1 Chronicles 26:20 says Ahijah, a Levite, had charge of Temple treasuries under David (KJV, RSV). The Septuagint or oldest Greek translation suggests reading achehem , “their brothers or relatives” (NAS, NIV, TEV).
