Emblem in art associated with Apostles, Fathers and Doctors of the Church, and Evangelists. In the hand of Evangelists and Apostles it is an attribute and represents the Gospel. In that of Doctors of the Church it signifies learning or works. In that of any other saint it may be the Gospel. Saints and beati with books as their emblem in art include
