Galician Talmudist of the second half of the eighteenth century. He is the author of "Meḥ oḳ eḳ Yehudah" (The Lawgiver of Judah), Lemberg, 1792, a commentary on those sections of the Oraḥ Ḥ ayyim of Joseph Caro's Shulḥ an ' Aruk which treat of the regulations for Passover. The work consists of two distinct parts, entitled respectively (1) "Ḥ uḳ ḳ e ' Olam" (Eternal Laws), which gives the halakic decisions briefly, and (2) "Ḥ uḳ ḳ e Da' at" (Laws of Knowledge), which gives discussions of the preceding.
