Δαναῶν, Τρώων, etc., 19.402, 4.86, al.; ἵππων καὶ ἀνδρῶν ὅ. 10.338; τὸν ψιλὸν ὅ. the crowd of irregulars, opp. ὁπλῖται, Th. 4.125; mob, διδασκάλῳ χρείωνται ὁμίλῳ Heraclit. 104; ὁ πολλὸς ὅ. ὅμιλος, ὁμιλου, (ὁμός, ὁμοῦ, and ἴλη a crowd, band (Curtius, § 660; Vanicek, p. 897; but Fick iii. 723 from root mil 'to be associated,' 'to love')), from Homer down, a multitude of men gathered together, a crowd, throng: Revelation 18:17 Rec.
