Vocabulary of the Greek NT

Ramsay (Paul, p. 343) points out that Πόπλιος (Acts 28:7 f.) is the Greek form of the praenomen Publius, and that though it is not usual that an official should be called by his praenomen simply, ";Publius"; may have been so well known among the peasantry that Luke adopted their familiar mode of addressing him.
